Grammy-nominated Gregory Porter performs at the Blue Note tonight filling in for Mitch Winehouse who had to canceled due to the unexpected news of his daughter, Amy Winehouse's, passing. In memory of the singer's untimely passing, Porter will perform a special tribute to Amy Winehouse during his set. Please join Porter in remembering Winehouse with a night of jazz/soul music, including songs from his debut album Water. Set times are at 8:00 and 10:30.
Born in Los Angeles, raised in Bakersfield, and now living in the Bedford-Stuyvesant area of Brooklyn, Gregory Porter has made the world his musical home. A frequent guest performer with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Porter also maintains a long-standing residency at Harlem's venerable Smoke Jazz Club, and has been touring internationally all summer including stops in Austria, the Netherlands and the UK. Porter received a Grammy nomination for his 2010 debut recording,Water.
