Coming up on Jamie’s radio show…Carmen Lundy

Next week, Jamie chats to American jazz vocalist and composer Carmen Lundy. She talks about what it was like growing up in a musical family, alongside her famous bass player brother Curtis and gospel singer mother.

Carmen also discusses her latest album, Changes, and how she has managed to maintain her creativity after nearly three decades of recording albums.

Also, Jamie returns to the BBC archives to dig out a recording of Abdullah Ibrahim, the South African pianist and composer, performing on the TV show Ebony back in January 1986.
Previous archive sessions have included performances by Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk and the John Surman Octet, as well as Count Basie and Cannonball Adderley performing on board a "Jazz Ship".
