Jazz Standards Part 5: Singin' in the Rain

This popular song dates back to the late Twenties and is credited to Arthur Freed and Nacio Herb Brown.

It is probably most well-known as the song from the 1952 musical film starring Gene Kelly.

Jamie Cullum covered the song on his 2003 album Twentysomething. He later added Rihanna's Umbrella into the mix and it has proved to be a huge hit with fans at live shows across the world.

Enjoy these three versions, kicking off with Cliff Edwards and The Brox Sisters in the MGM musical The Hollywood Revue of 1929, Gene Kelly and Jamie Cullum:

Part 4: I'm Glad There Is You

Lyrics

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
For love
Let the stormy clouds chase
Everyone from the place
Come on with the rain
I've a smile on my face
I'll walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Singing, singing in the rain
In the rain.

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again
I walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
I'm singing, singing in the rain
In the rain
In the rain
